The Feet in Stirrups – Leg Press on the Reformer is a controlled, resistance-based movement that focuses on strengthening the quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteal muscles, while also promoting lumbopelvic stability.

  • Lie on your back on the Reformer with your head supported on the headrest and arms resting by your sides.
  • Carefully place both feet into the straps, ensuring they are secure around the arches of your feet.
  • Bring your knees in towards your chest into a tabletop or frog-leg position, keeping the knees bent and feet together, heels touching.
  • Engage your core and maintain a neutral spine with the pelvis stable against the carriage.
  • Inhale to prepare; as you exhale, press both feet away from you to straighten the legs, maintaining gentle tension through the straps.
  • Avoid locking the knees—stop just short of full extension.
  • Inhale to bend the knees and return to the starting position with control.
  • Ensure movement comes from the hips and knees, keeping the pelvis still and abdominals gently engaged.
  • Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
