Wrist Pronation
Instructions
- Position yourself with the affected limb on a bench or as shown below or resting on the knee
- The elbow should be bent to approximately 90 degrees
- Using a hand weight prescribed by your physiotherapist, hold the end of the hand weight
- With the thumb facing the roof commence the movement by moving into a palm down position. This is the ‘pronation’ component of the movement
- Repeat as prescribed
Wrist Supination
Instructions
- Position yourself with the affected limb positioned on a bench or as shown below or resting on the knee
- The elbow should be bent to approximately 90 degrees
- Using a hand weight prescribed by your physiotherapist, hold the end of the hand weight
- With the thumb is facing the roof, commence the movement by moving into a palm up position. This is the supination component of the movement
Precautions
- Avoid the wrist moving into an extended position
- Avoid firmly gripping the hand weight
- Maintain control of the weight at all times, moving in a slow and controlled manner
