Poor posture will cause unnecessary tension to build up through the body which will lead to an increased risk of pain and injury

Remedial Massage is a holistic treatment that works on manipulating the soft tissues of the body with different techniques in order to treat muscular pain and dysfunction. Remedial massage is seen as a holistic form of treatment because it benefits not just the muscular system but all systems in the body.

Along with massage, diet and posture also play a big part in keeping the body healthy and free from pain.

Many people don’t realise the effect that a poor diet has on the body. Diets of pre cooked, packaged, ‘dead’ food will end up with a body that is weak, gets stressed by even low levels of exercise and injures very easily. By eating a balanced diet of fresh, healthy food, you will build a strong healthy body that will stand up to a demanding lifestyle.

Most western diets contain too much meat, sugar, white flower, dairy products and alcohol which are all acid producing. Too much acid in the body heightens nerve sensitivity and increases stress in the body’s soft tissue making it harder to work on and get a result with a massage treatment. Essentially a good diet is one that includes 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid foods

Poor posture can also limit the results a patient will receive from a treatment. Our posture affects the body in everything we do, sitting, standing, and walking etc. By consciously keeping your body posture correct, the pelvis and spine will be balanced and stable.

The benefits from a massage treatment will be minimal if good posture is not maintained afterwards. The body needs to remain balanced when sitting and standing.

Poor posture will cause unnecessary tension to build up through the body which will lead to an increased risk of pain and injury. This also includes not sleeping on your stomach which is bad for your posture and leads to neck and upper back/ shoulder problems as it causes the pelvis to rotate.

Being aware of the effects of a poor diet and posture and making a conscious effort to improve these two things will ensure a longer lasting result from massage treatments.
