The supine long lever hip abduction with a band around the ankles targets the outer hip muscles while also engaging the core. Lying on your back with legs extended, the band provides resistance as the legs move apart, helping improve hip stability, pelvic control, and lower limb alignment. It’s often used in rehab for hip or knee pain and in balance programs.

  • Tie a theraband into a circle or fasten a belt around the ankles.
  • The band should be tight enough to feel some tension when your feet are shoulder width apart.
  • Pull the target limb outwards, keeping the knee straight. until you feel sufficient resistance on the band.
  • Sustain for 5s or as specified by your Physiotherapist.
  • Relax the tension for the rest period.
  • Repeat as many times as your Physiotherapist recommends.
