Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your Rutherford physio clinic located?
Peak Physio Rutherford is at 1/15-17 West Mall, Rutherford NSW 2320, in the West Mall shopping precinct. You'll find us next to Pacific Smiles Dental and across from Woolworths. We're an easy choice for clients across Rutherford, Maitland, Telarah, Aberglasslyn, and Lorn.
Where can I park?
Parking is easy. There's a free car park in the West Mall complex right by the clinic, so you can park close and walk straight in. The clinic also has wheelchair access.
Can I get there by public transport?
Yes. There's a bus stop opposite West Mall, about a two minute walk from the clinic, with services connecting Rutherford to Maitland and Green Hills.
What are your opening hours?
We're open Monday to Friday and offer some earlier and later appointments to suit work schedules. The quickest way to check current availability is to book online or call the clinic on (02) 4932 5555.
Do I need a GP referral to see a physio?
No, you don't need a referral to book a physiotherapy appointment with us. Most clients book directly. A referral is only needed if you're attending under a specific scheme, such as a Chronic Care Management Plan (CCMP), workers compensation, or CTP.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes. Our physiotherapists are registered with all major Australian private health funds, and we have HICAPS on site, so you can claim your rebate at the time of your appointment and only pay the gap.
Can I claim through Medicare?
Yes, if you have a Chronic Care Management Plan (CCMP) from your GP. However, please be aware that we do not bulk bill. Medicare provides a rebate (around $60) for a set number of physiotherapy sessions per calendar year under that plan. Bring the referral and care plan to your first appointment and our team will handle the paperwork.
Do you take workers compensation and CTP claims?
Yes. Our Rutherford clinic accepts workers compensation and CTP (motor accident) claims. To get started we'll need your claim number, insurer details, and a referral from your treating doctor. We'll liaise with your insurer directly so you can focus on recovery.
Do you offer NDIS physiotherapy?
Yes. We support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants at our Rutherford clinic. Sessions focus on practical goals around mobility, strength, and independence, with plans that adapt as you progress.
Do you treat sports injuries?
Yes. We treat the full range of sports injuries for active people across Rutherford, Maitland, and the surrounding suburbs, from acute sprains and strains to overuse problems, with staged return-to-sport plans so you come back when you're ready.
Do you run Pilates and other classes at Rutherford?
Yes. Our Rutherford clinic runs both physio-led Pilates classes and Over-60s Balance Classes on site. Pilates suits clients working through back pain, post-injury rehab, or general strength and mobility, while the balance classes focus on falls prevention and confidence with movement.
How long is a physio appointment?
We offer both 30-minute and 45-minute appointments. For initial consultations we recommend the longer 45-minute slot where possible, as it gives us time to take a full history, assess thoroughly, and start treatment on the same day.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing works best so we can move and assess freely. We have shorts and singlets if needed and private treatment rooms are available.
Do you offer mobile physio?
Yes. For clients in and around Rutherford who can't easily travel to the clinic due to mobility, illness, or access issues, we provide in-home physiotherapy across Maitland, Telarah, Aberglasslyn, Lorn, and nearby suburbs.
