Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults, with one in three Australians over the age of 65 experiencing a fall each year. At Peak Physio, our Falls Prevention Program is designed to reduce risk through education, targeted exercises, and physiotherapist-led support. By improving strength, balance, confidence, and safety awareness, we help you stay independent, mobile, and active in your community.
Who Is It For?
- Adults aged 60+ looking to reduce fall risk
- Individuals with a history of falls or near-misses
- People with reduced confidence in walking or balance
- Older adults using mobility aids such as walkers or canes
- Those with reduced strength, coordination, or endurance
- People recovering from illness or recent surgery
- Individuals with chronic conditions affecting mobility (e.g. arthritis, Parkinson’s, diabetes)
- Clients referred by GPs or specialists for fall prevention support
What to Expect
- Small group sessions (max 6 participants)
- Two supervised classes per week for 5 weeks
- Physiotherapist-led education and exercise
- Baseline and final assessments using evidence-based outcome measures
- Modules covering strength, balance, posture, and recovery techniques
- Education on key fall risks (medications, footwear, home safety, etc.)
- Safe, progressive exercise tailored to each participant

Contraindications & Safety
Our program is suitable for a wide range of abilities. However, certain individuals may need a 1:1 assessment or clearance before participating:
- Recent fractures or unhealed injuries
- Severe cognitive impairment or dementia
- Unstable medical conditions
- High fall risk requiring constant supervision
All participants undergo a pre-course assessment to ensure the program is safe and appropriate. Modifications are made where necessary, and our physiotherapists closely monitor all sessions for safety.

- Do I need a referral?
- No referral is needed. However, we’re happy to work with your GP, specialist or care provider if applicable.
- Can I join if I use a walker or stick?
- Yes. The program is designed for all mobility levels, and exercises are adapted to suit your ability and needs.
- What should I wear?
- Comfortable clothing and supportive footwear. A water bottle and notepad are also helpful.
- What happens after the 5 weeks?
- We’ll provide you with a progress report and may recommend ongoing group classes, home exercises, or individual sessions based on your goals.
