- This exercise combines upper limb control with thoracic rotation while challenging trunk stability in a kneeling position on the reformer.
- It targets the shoulder stabiliser muscles while also engaging the core and encouraging controlled mobility through the thoracic spine.
- Set up the Reformer with appropriate spring tension as advised by your physiotherapist.
- Kneel upright on the reformer carriage facing the foot bar, with knees hip-width apart and feet against the shoulder pads.
- Hold the arm straps with palms facing upwards and elbows bent by your side with shoulders relaxed.
- Begin the movement by slowly “offering”/extending one arm forward and upward on a diagonal until the elbow is straight.
- As this arm moves forward, rotate your upper body and shoulders away from the working arm, keeping hips facing forward.
- Ensure the rotation comes from your upper back rather than your lower back.
- Return slowly to the starting position, unwinding the rotation and bringing the extended arm back with control.
- Repeat with the opposite arm whilst rotating in the opposite direction.
- Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
