Supine shoulder circles are a gentle mobility and control exercise for the shoulder complex.
The movement helps activate muscles such as the rotator cuff, serratus anterior, and deltoid while promoting smooth scapular control.
Performing the exercise in a supine position reduces the load on the shoulder and provides stability from the floor, making it useful in early rehabilitation.
Lie on your back on a firm surface.
Point your hand straight to the ceiling with your wrist stacked over your shoulder.
Slowly begin to draw small circles in the air with your hand, keeping your arm pointing upward with elbow straight but relaxed.
Allow the movement to come from the shoulder joint and shoulder blade.
Keep the circles smooth and controlled.
Avoid bending your elbow or allowing your shoulder to shrug towards your ear.
After completing the movement in one direction, reverse the direction of the circles.
Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
