- Fast toe taps to a plate are a dynamic plyometric exercise designed to improve footwork speed, coordination and lower limb power.
- This movement primarily aims to improve power in the calf muscles (gastrocnemius and soleus).
- Place a weight plate or low step flat on the floor in front of you. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart.
- Quickly tap the toes of one foot onto the edge of the plate, keeping the contact light and brief.
- Immediately switch feet in a fast, alternating pattern, as if running on the spot with the plate as your target.
- Use your arms naturally to assist with rhythm and balance.
- Maintain quick, light, springy contacts with minimal ground contact time.
- Perform repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
