The triple extension exercise develops coordinated power through the ankles, knees, and hips by extending all three joints together. It’s an important movement pattern for improving walking, stair climbing, and athletic performance. This exercise is used in both rehab and strength programs to build lower limb strength, balance, and functional movement efficiency.
- Using a block stand about 1m from the edge.
- Step the unaffected leg forward onto the block as if you were stepping up.
- As you do so, lift the heel off the ground of the target limb.
- Lower the heel as you bring the leg off the block.
- The goal is to push firmly off the heel as if you were running with the leg that remains on the ground.
- Repeat as per Physiotherapist guidelines.
