- Cervical flexion PNF is a neck strengthening and motor control exercise performed through a straight flexion pattern.
- It primarily targets the deep cervical flexors, including the longus colli and longus capitis, with assistance from the superficial neck flexors.
- It may be prescribed to improve cervical strength, control, proprioception and the ability to maintain a stable head and neck position.
- Come into a comfortable upright position either sitting or standing.
- Bend your neck forward into a comfortable range.
- Apply pressure externally from the hand to stop movement into forward neck bend.
- Ensure it is within a comfortable range.
- Sustain the contraction for the period of time instructed by your treating Physiotherapist, then repeat as prescribed.
