- Sit upright with your shoulders relaxed, chest open, and spine in a neutral position.
- Lightly place your index finger vertically against the tip of your chin.
- Without tilting your head up or down, gently glide your head straight backwards, as if you’re trying to pull your chin away from your finger.
- Allow the finger to stay in place, serving as a reference point — you should feel your chin move away from your finger, not down onto it.
- You may feel a mild stretch at the base of your skull or some gentle activation at the front of your neck.
- Maintain the retracted position briefly, then return to the starting position with control.
- Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
