  • Grip the bar with your palms facing away from you, roughly shoulder-width apart.
  • Move your feet off any step or bench so you are freely hanging on to the bar.
  • Keep your arms straight and relaxed, but gently draw your shoulder blades down and back to stop your shoulders shrugging towards your ears.
  • Gently brace your core to avoid swinging.
  • Keep breathing evenly throughout the hold.
  • Hold and maintain as prescribed by your physiotherapist
