- Attach a handle to the cable machine and adjust the pulley to either a high or low position, depending on the prescribed direction of movement.
- Stand side on to the cable machine with your feet shoulder width apart and hold the handle with both hands.
- Step away from the machine until there is light tension on the cable.
- Stand tall, engage your core and maintain a neutral spine throughout the movement.
- Keeping your arms comfortably extended, move the handle diagonally across your body in a smooth, controlled motion.
- Allow your hips and shoulders to rotate naturally as you move, while keeping your feet planted unless otherwise instructed.
- Finish with your hands at the opposite side of your body, maintaining control throughout the movement.
- Slowly return to the starting position, resisting the pull of the cable.
- Avoid using momentum or allowing your trunk to bend forwards, backwards or sideways.
- Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
