The Left Gufoni maneuver for left-sided horizontal canal cupulolithiasis (apogeotropic BPPV) is a physical therapy technique used to detach particles from the cupula by quickly moving the patient onto their affected side, followed by a quick head turn.
The goal is to move the affected side towards the ground to detach the particles.
- Sit upright on the middle edge of the bed.
- Quickly lie down on your left side (affected side). Hold this position for 2-3 minutes after your symptoms settle
- Quickly rotate your head 45° upward, looking towards the ceiling for 2–3 minutes.
- Slowly return to the sitting position.
- Repeat as per your physiotherapist guidelines.
