The Happy Baby Stretch on the reformer is a gentle mobility exercise that helps open the hips, stretch the inner thighs (adductors), and release tension through the lower back and pelvic region. It is commonly prescribed to improve hip flexibility, promote relaxation, and encourage better movement through the pelvis and lumbar spine. Using the reformer can provide support and allow a comfortable, controlled stretch.

  • Lie on your back on the reformer carriage with your head and spine comfortably supported.
  • Bend your knees towards your chest.
  • Reach your hands to the outsides of your feet or ankles.
  • Gently draw your knees towards your armpits while keeping your lower back relaxed against the carriage.
  • Allow your hips to open comfortably and keep your shoulders relaxed.
  • Breathe slowly and deeply, relaxing into the stretch without forcing the movement.
  • Maintain the position as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
