The prone neck extension exercise strengthens the muscles at the back of the neck while promoting better posture and spinal alignment. Performed lying face down, it helps improve neck endurance, reduce forward head posture, and support daily activities that require head and neck stability. It’s often included in rehab for neck pain and postural correction programs.

  • Lie on a raised surface such as your bed or table.
  • Relax your head down.
  • Slowly lift your head to a horizontal level from the floor.
  • Make sure you keep your chin gently tucked in for the neck to be in a neutral position.
  • Complete the repetitions recommended by your physiotherapist.
