The snatch pull is a weightlifting exercise that develops explosive power through the hips and legs while reinforcing the correct pulling mechanics used in the snatch.
This exercise is commonly prescribed to improve force production, bar path, and extension without the complexity of catching the bar overhead.
Stand with your feet about hip-width apart and the barbell positioned over the middle of your feet.
Take a wide snatch grip and brace your core with your chest lifted and back flat.
Push through your feet to lift the bar from the floor, keeping it close to your shins as your hips and shoulders rise together.
As the bar passes your knees, continue to keep it close to your thighs while maintaining a strong, balanced position.
Explosively extend your hips, knees and ankles, driving through the floor and rising onto your toes.
Shrug your shoulders upwards after full leg and hip extension then use the momentum created to bend the elbows and pull the bar.
Allow the bar to travel vertically close to your body before lowering it under control back to the floor or starting position.
Reset your position before beginning the next repetition.
Complete repetitions as prescribed by your physiotherapist.
